Chloe Anderton | TEDxSaint Ignatius College Geelong Youth

Tonight, I will explore why girls are taught to compete with each other. Through the Barbie movie, I look at how girls learn to compare themselves through social media, school, expectations and the way we see other girls. I look at how jealousy, judgement and comparison can make us feel like another girl’s success makes our own success smaller. I ask what could happen if we changed the way we think about competition, supported other girls, and learned to be the girl we needed. Most importantly, I ask, who taught us that girls are against girls?
