تتحدث الدكتورة جميلة محمد دهيرو، وهي باحثة وموظفة عامة ومدافعة عن التنمية، عن مسارها الشخصي في التعليم والحياة العامة. بدأت أماً شابة في فصل للحضانة، ثم عملت معلمة في مجتمع ريفي في كادونا، وتولت لاحقاً منصب مفوضة التعليم في ولاية باوتشي. ترى المحاضرة أن الاختلاف عن المألوف يمكن أن يكون مصدر رؤية ويساعد على تغيير الأنظمة. أُلقيت المحاضرة في TEDxJimeta، وهو حدث مستقل بتنظيم محلي يتبع صيغة TED.

What if being the "odd one out" is not a flaw, but a vision others cannot yet see? In this inspiring talk, Dr. Jamila Mohammed Dahiru redefines the metaphor of the "black sheep" through the lens of her personal journey. From finding unexpected purpose as a young mother in a nursery classroom and enduring isolation as a devoted teacher in a rural Kaduna community, to driving large-scale systemic changes as a Commissioner of Education, she reveals how unconventional thinking transforms systems. Rather than conforming just to fit in, Jamila challenges us to question broken standards, embrace our unique perspectives, and look at the profound impact we can make right where we are. Dr. Jamila Mohammed Dahiru is a scholar, public servant, and development advocate passionate about transformative leadership and inclusive education. She previously served as Commissioner for Education in Bauchi State, where she spearheaded critical reforms focused on girls' education, foundational literacy, and safe school initiatives. She currently lectures at the University of Abuja in the Department of Development and Strategic Communication, bringing academic depth and practical policy insight into the classroom. Dr. Dahiru holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from Bayero University, Kano, and is the founder of the WeCare Centre for Community Awareness and Empowerment Initiative, which advances grassroots education and women's empowerment. Her work reflects a strong commitment to mindset shifts, systems change, and purpose-driven leadership. As a strategic communicator, she bridges academia, governance, and advocacy in pursuit of a more equitable society.
