A massive flash flood along Nepal’s Budhi Gandaki River swept away dozens of houses and several bridges in Gorkha district on October 11. Preliminary reports suggest a landslide may have blocked the river, triggering a sudden surge of muddy water and debris. Authorities have urged residents living along the river to evacuate to safer areas as rescue and relief operations continue. A hydropower project’s infrastructure was also damaged. No casualties had been confirmed in the initial reports, while officials continued assessing the extent of the destruction.
