"Hello, I'm Mom": Japanese couple's surrogacy choice and the reality for a Georgian surrogate paid 4.5 million yen [Spotlight] Investigative Report Project

A Japanese couple who could no longer give birth after a uterus-removing illness chose surrogacy in Georgia. The report follows the couple as they meet their newborn child for the first time. It also includes an exclusive interview with a Georgian woman who previously carried a Japanese baby, covering her payment, her feelings about the role, and why she accepted it. Surrogacy is legal in Georgia, while in Japan the debate has not progressed and the practice is neither protected nor regulated.
