JR Kagoshima Line Uto–Yatsushiro section resumes service after about two and a half months following Kumamoto earthquake damage (October 10, 2026)

The Uto–Yatsushiro section of the JR Kagoshima Line, damaged in the Kumamoto earthquake, resumed operations after about two and a half months. Passengers boarded the first train leaving Yatsushiro Station.

熊本地震で被災したJR鹿児島線の宇土ー八代間がおよそ2カ月半ぶりに運行を再開しました。 　八代駅を午前5時すぎに出る始発列車にさっそく乗客が乗り込んでいました。 利用客 「日常が帰ってくるという一つになる、一番大きい鉄道という移動手段が復旧することはうれしい限り」 　宇土ー八代間はおよそ25キロあり、7月の熊本地震で橋梁29カ所、線路およそ10キロ、電柱27本など多数の被害を受け復旧作業が進められ、10日に再開となりました。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
