AEON automates warehouse inbound and outbound work with physical AI

Retailer AEON has unveiled a distribution center that uses physical AI, AI-equipped robots, for its operations. About 90 physical AI units began full-scale operation on the 29th. Work from unloading incoming goods to stacking outgoing items on pallets is automated. The company aims to automate 80% of its inbound and outbound work in the future, citing labor shortages and rising costs.

小売り大手のイオンはAI（人工知能）を搭載したロボット「フィジカルAI」を利用した物流拠点を公開しました。 　公開されたイオンの物流拠点では、約90台のフィジカルAIが29日から本格的に稼働しました。 　入荷品の荷降ろしから、出荷品を積み上げる「積み付け」作業までが自動化されています。 　積み付け作業を担う「パレタイズロボット」は、事前に登録されていない商品でも自動で認識し、大きさや重量に合わせて積み上げることができるということです。 　人手不足や物価高で人件費が高騰するなか、イオンは将来的に入出荷作業の80％で自動化を目指すことにしています。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
