Magnitude 5+ earthquake in Aichi: PM Takaichi orders damage assessment

An earthquake registering an intensity of upper 5 on the Japanese seismic scale was observed in Aichi Prefecture. In response, the government set up a Prime Minister's Office liaison room at the crisis management center in the Kantei. Relevant ministries are coordinating to gather information and confirm damage. Prime Minister Takaichi said on her social media account that she had instructed officials to assess the situation and provide accurate information to the public.
