Crackdown on Illegally Modified Sports Cars in Akihabara (November 2, 2026)

A joint crackdown on illegally modified vehicles was carried out around Akihabara Station in Tokyo. Sports cars have reportedly gathered in the area at night for about a year and a half, and complaints about illegal exhausts and parking violations have increased. On October 31, the Metropolitan Police Department, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and Chiyoda Ward conducted the enforcement together. Using dedicated equipment to measure vehicle noise, officials reported 10 cases involving violations such as improper vehicle maintenance.
