Level 5 flood alert: Kojigawa River overflows in Akita, Yurihonjo (LIVE)

The Kojigawa and Ishizawagawa rivers flowing through Yurihonjo City in Akita Prefecture have overflowed. According to the Akita River and Highway Office, water overtopping the Kojigawa River was confirmed in the Moriko area. Level 5 'emergency safety securing' warnings have been issued for several districts of Yurihonjo. Intermittent rain in the prefecture pushed 24-hour rainfall at some observation points to the highest October totals on record.
