Large fire at Canadian military base kills four soldiers

A large fire broke out on 17 at the Wainwright military base in Alberta, western Canada, killing four soldiers who were training there. Prime Minister Carney called it one of the worst tragedies for the Canadian Armed Forces and spoke of those who died and were injured. He did not address the cause of the fire, but local media, citing military sources, reported that live rounds hit gas pipes and other infrastructure during firing practice, causing an explosion.
