Industry ministry orders Chubu Electric to improve operations over Hamaoka nuclear data irregularities

Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has issued a business improvement order to Chubu Electric Power over irregularities linked to the restart of the Hamaoka nuclear plant. Company president Minoru Yasui visited the ministry and received the order document from Agency for Natural Resources and Energy director Yoshifumi Murase. Chubu Electric has faced a series of scandals, including the alteration of projected earthquake shaking data used in the restart review. The order calls for a fundamental strengthening of legal compliance and the removal of insularity within the nuclear division, and the company says it will reform its organizational culture to regain trust.
