By the Time the System Responds, It's Already Too Late | Dr. Krystal Redman | TEDxBuckheadAve
Dr. Krystal Redman, a public health leader and community builder, argues that lasting health depends on what communities build before a crisis arrives. Drawing on her experiences as a mother and public health professional, she looks at the relationships, resources, and support structures that can be created ahead of emergencies, not only the systems that respond once a problem has already occurred. The talk is framed around reproductive justice, health justice, and the effects of structural inequity on marginalized communities. It was given at an independently organized TEDx event. Dr. Redman is Executive Director of SPARK Reproductive Justice NOW!, Founder and CEO of the S.E.J.H. Institute, and Adjunct Faculty at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health. The description also notes her work on OurPanel TV.

What if better health begins long before a crisis? Drawing from her personal experiences as a mother and public health leader, Dr. Krystal Redman challenges us to rethink how we build healthier communities. She explores why lasting health depends not only on systems that respond to emergencies, but on the relationships, resources, and support structures we create before they happen. Dr. Krystal Redman, DrPH, MHA, is a public health leader, strategist, author, speaker, and community builder working at the intersection of reproductive justice, Health Justice, public health, and liberation. Their work spans executive leadership, community organizing, public health strategy, and movement building, advancing community-driven solutions rooted in justice, bodily autonomy, and collective well-being. Rooted in a legacy of Black liberation organizing, Dr. Redman examines how anti-Blackness, white supremacy, colonialism, and capitalism shape health and life opportunities for marginalized communities. They are committed to transforming systems that produce inequity while building structures grounded in justice, care, freedom, and health liberation. Dr. Redman serves as Executive Director of SPARK Reproductive Justice NOW!, Founder and CEO of the S.E.J.H. Institute, Adjunct Faculty at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health, and Creator and Host of OurPanel TV.
