Qatari academic: Regional and international diplomatic efforts to contain escalation since the war began

Dr. Abdullah Bandar Al-Otaibi, an associate professor of international relations at Qatar University, says regional states began diplomatic moves after the war broke out, including a series of contacts. He points to a delegation from the Mecca Alliance visiting Tehran and the presence of the Russian foreign minister in the region as part of wider efforts to contain escalation. He adds that the European Union is seeking a return to diplomacy amid losses from disrupted energy supplies, and notes differing calculations and political views between the sides of the conflict.
