Average egg pack price hits record 312 yen; beef loin and chicken thigh prices also at peak (Oct 27, 2026)

Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries released its monthly food price survey, which covered 470 stores nationwide. The average price of one pack of eggs rose to 312 yen, up 3 yen from the previous month and the highest level on record. The average price of imported beef loin was 451 yen per 100 grams, 9 yen higher than last month and equal to the July peak. Chicken thigh meat averaged 156 yen per 100 grams, matching the August record.
