India's education system often focuses on marks, exams and jobs, while coping with setbacks receives less attention. This TEDxSGU talk by R. Deepak S.K. looks at how peace and gratitude can serve as foundations for pursuing success, and how separating what we control from what we cannot can help people let go of the past and outside opinions. It draws on the career journeys of several Indian sports and film figures to argue that failure is rarely the end and that everyone moves forward on their own timeline. The speaker also addresses the pressures of academic stress, unemployment and financial strain, and the serious challenge of suicide in India, with a message that struggling people are not alone.

Description from TEDx Talks

In India, we teach young people how to score marks, crack exams, and land jobs. But what we rarely teach them is how to deal with life when things don’t go as planned. That silence comes at a cost. India continues to face the serious challenge of suicide, with academic pressure, unemployment, financial stress, and personal struggles among the concerns affecting people’s lives. This talk offers a more human way of looking at life. Peace and gratitude shouldn’t be things we wait to experience after achieving success; they are foundations that help us navigate life and pursue success with greater clarity. By learning to distinguish between what is entirely within our control, what we can partly influence, and what lies beyond our control, we can focus our energy where it matters most and learn to let go of the past and the weight of other people’s opinions. Drawing inspiration from the journeys of MS Dhoni, Thalapathy Vijay, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Sanju Samson, this talk explores why failure is rarely the end, how calculated risks can lead to extraordinary achievements, and why everyone moves forward on their own timeline. If you’re struggling right now, remember this: you are not behind in life, your failures do not define you, and you are not alone. Sometimes, what feels like the end of your journey is simply the beginning of a new chapter. R.
