GMO reportedly faces $1 million extortion demand from attackers
Experts have found that the attackers behind a cyberattack on GMO are reportedly demanding $1 million, about 150 million yen, by noon on the 27th, Japan time. Cybersecurity firm S&J analyzed a site apparently published by the attackers and reported that they claim access to all of the users' PC data. The attackers also reportedly installed a backdoor that allows entry bypassing normal authentication and say they can continue to access the data. GMO has not disclosed the amount, acknowledged the demand for money, and said it will not comply with the attacker's demands.
