Sahel region: Great Green Wall project stretches from Senegal to Djibouti

The Great Green Wall project in Africa faces complex environmental and security challenges that are slowing its progress. Led by the African Union, the project runs about 8,000 kilometres across eleven countries, from Senegal on the Atlantic in the west to Djibouti on the Red Sea in the east.
