Aircraft tire blows out, emergency landing; cause linked to raised metal plate on runway unconfirmed
A Japan Airlines plane that took off from Tokyo's Haneda Airport had a tire burst and made an emergency landing at Narita Airport. Inspections later found that rubber on Runway D had peeled back, revealing a metal plate that had risen by up to 8 centimeters. A government committee said the tire burst was likely caused by external factors but could not confirm a causal link to the metal plate. Measures include switching to resin-based materials and revising inspection methods, with a final report expected in November.
