Three dead in a series of accidents blamed on snow and icy roads in Hokkaido

A series of slip accidents blamed on snow and icy road surfaces in Hokkaido left three people dead. In Toyako, a box van went off the side of a national road and one male passenger was confirmed dead. In Niseko, a kei car crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a passenger car, killing its 43-year-old driver, while a 95-year-old passenger died after a car went off the road in Rankoshi. Police are investigating the cases.

北海道では雪や路面の凍結が原因とみられるスリップ事故などが相次ぎ、合わせて3人が死亡しました。 　7日午前7時ごろ、北海道洞爺湖町の国道でワンボックスカーが道路脇に転落しました。 　乗っていた男性4人が病院に運ばれ、このうち1人の死亡が確認されました。 　また、7日午後1時半ごろ、ニセコ町で軽乗用車が対向車線にはみ出し乗用車と衝突しました。 　この事故で軽乗用車を運転していた43歳のアルバイト従業員の男性が死亡しました。 　乗用車側の3人も病院に搬送されましたが命に別状はありません。 　蘭越町でも乗用車が道路脇に転落し95歳の同乗者の女性が死亡しました。 　警察はいずれも雪や路面の凍結が原因とみて詳しく調べています。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
