The Ideas We Inherit | Vineet Khurana | TEDxCUH
Startup builder and social capitalist Vineet Khurana argues that many of the self-doubts and limits people feel may be inherited from their surroundings rather than being their own. Drawing on the story of a socially driven entrepreneur who chose accessible education for students across India over conventional commercial success, the talk questions how we think about ownership of ideas. The central message is that we are caretakers of our ideas rather than their owners. Stepping back, letting go of fear of judgment, and not letting the environment define one's potential can turn inherited thoughts into actions that benefit others. The talk was given at an independently organized TEDx event, under the theme "Thoughts in Transit".

What if the self-doubt and limitations holding you back aren't actually yours, but inherited from the world around you? Reflecting on the theme "Thoughts in Transit," this talk explores the psychological barriers and societal conditioning that prevent us from acting on transformative ideas. Drawing on an anecdote about a socially-driven entrepreneur who defied conventional expectations of commercial success to bring accessible education to students across India, the presentation challenges how we view ownership of our thoughts. The central idea is simple: we are not the owners of our ideas, but merely their caretakers. When we step back, break free from the fear of judgment, and refuse to let our environments define our potential, we can transform inherited thoughts into impactful actions for the betterment of humankind.
