Mehrdad Afraghi named Iran's new defence minister, former head of missile development agency

Iran's parliament approved the government's proposal to appoint Mehrdad Afraghi as the new defence and armed forces logistics minister, with 237 votes in favour and 15 against. Afraghi previously led the Aerospace Industries Organization, which oversees ballistic missile development. His predecessor, Nasirzadeh, was killed in attacks by the United States and Israel, and an acting minister had held the post for more than seven months. The report says Afraghi warned in a parliamentary speech that any renewed attack would bring a large-scale response.

アメリカとイスラエルによる攻撃で殺害されたイランの国防軍需相の後任に、弾道ミサイル開発を主導する航空宇宙産業機構の元トップが就任しました。 　イラン議会は18日、新たな国防軍需相にメフルダード・アフラギ氏を就任させる政府の提案について採決しました。 　賛成237票、反対15票で提案は承認され、アフラギ氏は新たな国防軍需相に就任しました。 　イランメディアによりますと、アフラギ氏は議会の演説でアメリカとイスラエルを牽制（けんせい）し、再び攻撃されれば反撃は「大規模なものになる」と警告したということです。 　アフラギ氏は1958年9月生まれの68歳で、イラン北西部ギーラーン州の州都ラシュト出身です。 　イランの軍事分野で長年、技術畑で経験を積み、ミサイル開発などを担う国防軍需省傘下の航空宇宙産業機構のトップを務めました。 　イランの国防相の職務は、アメリカとイスラエルが2月末にイランへの攻撃を始めた際に前任のナシルザデ氏が殺害されてから7カ月以上、国防相代行が担ってきました。 　イランの憲法では閣僚の不在で代行する場合、その期間は最長3カ月と定められています。 　しかし、国防相代行がこの期限を超えて職務にあたっていたため、議会の報道官は新たな国防相を速やかに指名するよう求めていました。 映像：イラン政府から [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
