Iran keeps military readiness high as talks continue

Iran is maintaining the highest level of military readiness while pursuing political negotiations led by its National Security Council. The stance reflects concern that diplomacy could collapse and that surprise military attacks could recur. Al Jazeera Arabic cites Mukhtar Haddad, editor-in-chief of the Al-Wefaq newspaper, who argues that Washington twice broke earlier understandings during the 12-day and 40-day wars. He says Tehran would insist on a broad and decisive military response if war is imposed again.
