Iraq Apology After Microphones Removed During Academic's Speech in Baghdad

The Al-Nakheel Center for Journalistic Rights and Freedoms has apologised to Iraqi academic Salman al-Rawaf after a video circulated showing microphones and television channel logos being removed from in front of him while he spoke at a conference in Baghdad. The incident followed the departure of the Minister of Higher Education. In a statement issued on Sunday, the centre expressed regret, apologised on behalf of Iraqi journalists, and described the action as unintentional. The footage has prompted criticism of how speakers are treated at academic events.
