Israeli affairs expert: Clash between Netanyahu's and opposition's agendas undermines unity government scenario

Israeli affairs expert Shadi al-Sharafa says the Knesset election results have produced a complex political deadlock. He argues that a national unity coalition between Benjamin Netanyahu and the opposition led by Gadi Eisenkot is unlikely, because their agendas conflict over judicial reforms, exemption of Haredi men from conscription and an inquiry into the October 7 events. He also notes that the chances of a minority opposition government backed by Arab lists have weakened due to conditions set by Eisenkot's camp.

• Unity coalition between Netanyahu and the opposition seen as unlikely
• Disputes over judicial reform and Haredi conscription
• Reduced prospects for a minority government backed by Arab lists
