Japan Foreign Ministry hit by unauthorized access, personal data of about 3,600 people may have leaked
Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that personal information may have been leaked after unauthorized access to its systems. According to the ministry, a third party gained access to a network that can communicate externally, which was discovered in July this year. Names and email addresses of about 3,600 people, including staff and external contacts, may be affected. The ministry says the consular system, which handles diplomatic information and passport data, is managed on a separate network and no leak has been confirmed there.
