Foreign visitors to Japan fall in September as airfares rise

The number of foreign tourists visiting Japan in September was 3,037,000, down more than 160,000 from the same month a year earlier. According to the Japan National Tourism Organization, the decline was about 5 percent. A 40 percent drop in travelers from China, along with higher airfares linked to the situation in the Middle East, contributed to the fall. Interest in traveling to Japan rose in countries such as South Korea and Mexico, reaching a record for September.

日本を訪れた外国人観光客の数が5％減少しました。 　日本政府観光局によりますと、9月に日本を訪れた外国人観光客は310万3700人で、前の年の同じ月と比べて16万人余り減りました。 　渡航自粛の呼び掛けなどで中国からの旅行客が4割減少したことに加え、中東情勢による航空券価格の上昇などが影響したということです。 　韓国やメキシコなどでは日本への旅行人気が高まっていて、9月として過去最高となっています。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
