Free Shuttle Bus Allegation: Minister Yana Explains Venue Cost, LDP Voices Concern

Japan's House of Representatives Budget Committee has begun deliberations, where an allegation that supporters were transported free of charge by shuttle bus during an election was raised. LDP lawmaker Tamura Motoatsu asked whether carrying voters to a campaign rally venue by free shuttle bus violated the Public Offices Election Law. Agriculture Minister Yana stated that the shuttle buses were recorded as part of venue costs and that the company did not violate the law. Criticism from within the LDP leadership about the minister has also been reported.

国会では13日から衆議院の予算委員会が始まりました。選挙の際に支援者をシャトルバスで無料で送迎した疑惑について、簗農水大臣に自民党からも苦言が呈されました。 　簗大臣は、シャトルバスを巡る疑惑について「法令違反ではない」という認識を示しました。 自民党　田村元厚労大臣 「今年の衆議院選挙において、出陣式の会場まで有権者を無料シャトルバスで輸送した。これが公職選挙法違反に当たるのではないかという報道でありますが、事実関係はどうなのか」 簗農水大臣 「会場費の一部としてこれを認識をして、その会場運営上、不可欠なものであるとそういう認識のもとで、これは利益供与や寄付を行ったということでは一切ございません。法令にのっとり適切に対処している」 　簗大臣は、シャトルバスを借り上げる前にスタッフが選挙管理委員会に確認し、回答を踏まえたうえで「会場費の一部として計上した」と説明しました。 　また、13日朝の閣議後の会見では、農水省内に疑惑への対応などにあたるチームが作られていることについて問われ、「関係者に非常に負担をかけていることを申し訳なく思っている」と述べました。 　高市総理大臣は簗大臣を守る姿勢ですが、自民党執行部からも「大臣はまだ辞めないのか」など厳しい声が収まる気配がありません。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
