Autumn skies across Japan: summer-like days in Kanto, rain on the Sea of Japan coast

On the last day of October, temperatures rose across Japan, and some places in the Kanto region reached summer-like readings. On the Sea of Japan coast, the atmosphere became unstable and heavy rain fell in several areas. In Nagano, artificial-snow slopes opened for skiing, the earliest opening in the prefecture, while a baby sumo ceremony was held at Torikai Hachiman Shrine in Fukuoka. Autumn foliage is at its peak at Nikko Iroha Slope and the Higashisawa Great Bridge in the Yatsugatake area.
