Kato Kiyoshiro and Hasegawa Shinobu at English project launch event

Actor Kato Kiyoshiro and comedian Hasegawa Shinobu of the duo Sissonne attended the launch event for the project "Making the first step to speaking English lighter" in Tokyo. Kato opened with a fluent English greeting, while Hasegawa responded with limited English. Kato recalled three years of study in the UK from 2016 and said that perfect English is not necessary to hold conversations. Hasegawa said he has kept his interest in English and stated a goal of working in the United States.

俳優の加藤清史郎（25）、お笑いコンビ「シソンヌ」の長谷川忍（48）が19日、都内で行われた「『英語で話す一歩を、もっと軽やかに。』プロジェクト発足発表会」に出席した。加藤は冒頭、流ちょうな英語で挨拶。どうやら打ち合わせと違ったようで、長谷川は困惑しながら片言の英語であいさつした。 加藤は2016年から3年間、英国留学を経験しており、「言語の壁を感じた瞬間はあったけど、みんな完璧な英語を話していない（と気付いた）」と振り返りながら、「文法的には合っていないけど会話できていて、そういう人たちが働いている。完璧である必要はないと思ったときに、気が楽になった」と明かした。 長谷川は「何度も英語にチャレンジしようとしてきた人生」で、英語への興味は失っていない。「段階踏んでいけば、年をとった人間でもスタートできる」と同プロジェクトに刺激を受け、「私も頑張りたい。もしかしたら来年はハリウッドにいるかもしれない」と米国進出を目標に掲げた。 ※この映像にはナレーションはありません。ご了承ください。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
