KDDI enters robotics business in earnest, targets service and farming sectors

Japanese telecom company KDDI has announced a full-scale entry into the robotics business, aiming to deploy more than 1,000 robots by 2030. A new subsidiary will handle everything from robot research and development to deployment. Field trials across a range of sites are starting this year, along with the collection of operational data. The company says it hopes to expand later into the service and agriculture industries.

通信大手のKDDIはロボット事業に本格参入し、2030年までに1000台以上の導入を目指すと発表しました。 　KDDIの新会社は、ロボットの研究開発から導入まで一貫して行います。 　今年から幅広い現場で実証をはじめ、作業データの収集などを進めます。 KDDI　松田浩路社長 「2030年度までに研究開発費300億円、そして300人の専門家集団、1000台以上のロボットを小売り物流製造の現場にお届けしていく」 　将来的にはサービス業や農業などへも展開し、あらゆる産業現場で活用できるロボットシステムの構築を目指したいとしています。
