Cosmetics factory with no CO2 emissions opens to public: Kose's Minami Alps plant
Kose has opened its Minami Alps plant, which makes mainly skincare products, to the media. It is the first facility in Japan built using only hydroelectric power, with no carbon dioxide emissions, and it has been in full operation since July. Electricity comes from solar and hydropower, while heat for processes such as heating ingredients uses hydrogen produced in Yamanashi Prefecture. The company aims to switch all heat sources at the plant to green hydrogen by 2040 and to become carbon neutral.
