France riots after protest: suspect arrested over arson at Limoges city hall
A protest in Limoges, central France, reportedly triggered a riot in which the 19th-century city hall was set on fire and almost entirely destroyed. On October 20, a 34-year-old man was arrested in front of a crowd on suspicion of involvement in the arson. Local media report he is known for links to a far-left group and was previously listed on a watch list for violence against a public official. Night curfews were imposed in Paris and Lyon, and new protests are planned.
