Brazil's electoral authority has officially confirmed the re-election of left-wing president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to an unprecedented fourth term. He defeated conservative rival Flávio Bolsonaro, son of a former president, in the decisive runoff. Official results after near-complete vote counting gave Lula 51.76% against 48.24% for Bolsonaro.
