Nobel Peace Prize laureate Machado returns to Venezuela as election focus grows

Venezuelan opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado has returned home after about 10 months abroad. She left Venezuela last December to attend the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony, and reports say that interim government and de facto U.S. pressure kept her from returning since then. Her aides said she intends to push a democratic movement inside the country toward free and fair elections. The report notes that her return could strengthen the opposition's push for an election.
