First Matsuba Crab Catch at Tottori Port Sells for Record ¥1.4 Million

The first matsuba crab catch of the season was landed at Tottori Port on the first day of winter and sold at auction. Fishermen from 23 boats across Tottori Prefecture went out this season, and four returned to the port early in the morning. The skipper said the catch was smaller than last year. The top price reached 1.4 million yen, partly due to the celebratory premium placed on first catches.

立冬の7日、鳥取港では冬の到来を告げる「松葉ガニ」が初水揚げされ、競りにかけられました。 　山陰地方で水揚げされるオスのズワイガニは「松葉ガニ」と呼ばれ、日本海の冬の味覚として親しまれています。 　今シーズンも鳥取県内の各港から23隻の漁船が漁場に出て操業し、このうち4隻が朝早く鳥取港に戻りました。 第二永福丸　網師野和敬船長 「そこそこですね、やっぱり。ある程度の枚数は持って帰ってきてるけど、それでも去年に比べたら少ないかな」 　鳥取県の平井知事が鳴らす鐘の音を合図に競りが始まり、仲買人の威勢のいい掛け声とともに次々と競り落とされていきます。 　甲羅の幅が13.5センチ以上、重さが1.2キロ以上など5つの基準を満たした最高級ブランド「五輝星」は4匹水揚げされました。 　最高値は、ご祝儀相場もあって140万円で競り落とされました。 　松葉ガニ漁は来年3月20日まで、雌の親ガニは今年12月31日まで行われます。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
