German Chancellor Merz calls for expanded Japan-Germany cooperation in semiconductors and other strengths

German Chancellor Merz, visiting Japan, addressed the Japan-Germany Business Summit in Tokyo. He urged both countries to expand cooperation in areas of strength such as semiconductors, robotics and nuclear fusion, and expressed hopes for closer defense ties. He also stressed the need to diversify sources of critical minerals, citing dependence on specific countries. Japanese participants voiced concern that an EU plan for EV preferential measures could exclude Japanese-made electric vehicles.

来日中のドイツのメルツ首相は都内の会合で、ドイツと日本が半導体やロボットなど両国の得意分野で協力を拡大していくよう呼び掛けました。 ドイツ　メルツ首相 「日本とドイツは互いに補完し合う関係で、産業や企業の強みを生かして一緒に多くの成果を上げられる」 　メルツ首相は28日午後、都内で開催された「日独ビジネスサミット」で演説し、「劇的に変化する世界で、両国のパートナーシップはますます重要になっている」と述べました。 　半導体やロボット技術、核融合など両国の得意分野で協力拡大を図るよう呼び掛け、防衛分野での連携にも期待を示しています。 　また、中国を念頭に、重要鉱物で特定の国に依存している両国の現状を懸念し、調達先の多様化などで協力すべきと強調しました。 　一方で、同席した経団連の筒井会長や赤沢経済産業大臣からは、EU（ヨーロッパ連合）が検討を進めるEV（電気自動車）の優遇措置案について、日本製EVが排除される可能性を「強く懸念する」などとの声がありました。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
