MINURSO: What does the closure of the UN Western Sahara mission signal?

The UN mission for the referendum in Western Sahara, MINURSO, has closed its offices and halted staff work as liquidation and the transfer of assets begin. The Moroccan Royal Office welcomed the step as an important development toward the mission's full end and the closing of the file at the UN. The Algerian Foreign Ministry condemned the decision not to renew the mission, calling it a clear bias in favour of Morocco at the expense of the Polisario Front.
