Political fundraising party in Diet building: Minister Seki receives strict warning

Japanese Education Minister Yoshihiro Seki received a strict warning from the chair of the House of Representatives Steering Committee over a political fundraising party held inside a Diet members' office building, which violates House internal rules. Seki had held similar parties in the same building in December 2020 and June 2024, before taking office as minister. The issue drew criticism from both ruling and opposition parties. Seki apologized and said he would carefully reread the building rules.
