Average rice price rises for first time in 12 weeks, still below 3,000 yen for 8th straight week

The average selling price of rice at about 1,000 supermarkets across Japan rose for the first time in 12 weeks. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the average price for the week ending on the 1st was 2,816 yen per 5 kilograms, up 28 yen from the previous week. The price nonetheless remained below 3,000 yen for the eighth consecutive week. Blended rice fell 4 yen to 2,674 yen, while branded rice rose 30 yen to 2,841 yen.

コメの平均販売価格が12週ぶりに値上がりしました。 　農林水産省によりますと、今月1日までの1週間に全国のスーパーおよそ1000店舗で販売されたコメの平均価格は、5キロあたり2816円でした。 　前の週から28円値上がりました。 　値上がりは12週間ぶりです。 　ただ、8週連続で3000円を下回りました。 　ブレンド米は、前の週より4円安い2674円、銘柄米は30円値上がりし、2841円でした。 　米穀機構は、9月の調査結果として、価格は先安観が続くと発表しています。 　今後もコメ余りを背景に、値下がり傾向が続くとみられます。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
