Japan projects 6.93 million tons of rice output for 2027, nearly 500,000 tons below this year's harvest

Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries held a meeting on rice supply and demand outlooks on the 30th. The ministry projected that food rice production for 2027 will reach 6.93 million tons. This is nearly 500,000 tons less than the harvest of more than 7.4 million tons expected this year. 農林水産省は、来年の主食用米の生産量が693万トンになるという見通しを発表しました。今年の収穫量と比べると大幅に減る見通しです。 　農林水産省は30日、コメの需給見通しなどを議論する会議を開きました。 　このなかで、2027年産の主食用米の生産量が693万トンになる見通しを示しました。 　今年予想される収穫量は740万トン余りで、50万トン近く減ることになります。 　また、政府の備蓄米について、長雨の影響などを踏まえた需給状況を見極めながら着実に買い戻しを進めていく方針を示し、了承されました。 　このほか、これまで5年としていた備蓄米の備蓄期間を4年または3年に短縮することについても議論が行われました。 　品質検査に時間がかかる古いコメを減らして機動的に備蓄米を放出できるようにする狙いがあります。 　農水省は年内にも結論を得たいとしています。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
