Brewing Beer in the Countryside | Huanliang Zheng | TEDxGrand School Qingdao Youth

Zheng Huanliang describes how his urban craft beer bar chain in Qingdao closed store by store during the pandemic. Observing that the craft beer industry had become homogeneous, he turned to the rich local raw materials found in rural areas. He converted an idle former primary school in Maliandian, Laixi, into a village brewery that uses local water and fruit. The talk covers his approach of buying local fruit through contract farming, creating jobs, and returning brewing residue to the fields.

郑焕良讲述自己从城市精酿创业转向乡村酿酒的经历。早年他在青岛拓展酒吧连锁，疫情冲击下门店接连关停。走访行业后，他发现精酿行业同质化内卷，但乡村拥有丰富特色原料。于是他改造莱西马连庄闲置旧小学，建起乡村酒厂，依托当地水源、瓜果资源酿酒。通过订单农业收购千吨本地水果做深加工，提升农产品附加值；提供就业岗位，酒糟循环还田。酒厂还举办乡村活动，吸引酿酒师入驻，在乡村旷野探索创业新路径，实现产业和乡村共生发展。 Zheng Huanliang is the Founder and Head Brewer of Weimai Brewing. He also serves as the Chief Expert in Rural Revitalization of Shandong Province, an Expert Mentor for Qingdao Entrepreneurial City Construction, a Youth Entrepreneurship Mentor for Shibei District in Qingdao, and a Rural Revitalization "Red Partner" of Maliandian Town. Additionally, he has been recognized as a Provincial "Good Youth" of Shandong Province, the 2024 Qingdao City "Youth Spokesperson," a Qingdao Rural Revitalization Youth New Farmer, a Qingdao Leader in Returning-Home Entrepreneurship, and a Laixi Elite Talent.
