4 million refugees in the Sahel amid severe funding shortfall
The United Nations has reported that the number of refugees in Sahel countries in Africa has reached four million, double the figure of six years ago. The UN High Commissioner for Refugees said the growing displacement is straining limited resources in the region. The agency added that by last September it had received only a third of the funds it needs for its activities in the Sahel.
