Wooden apartment fire in Saitama leaves one man dead

A fire broke out in a two-story wooden apartment building in Yotsuya, Minami Ward, Saitama City, and the body of a man was found in the burned area. A resident of another unit called emergency services on 119, reporting that the fire had started in Room 101. Thirteen vehicles, including pump trucks, were dispatched, and the fire was extinguished about three and a half hours later. Police are working to identify the man, as a 70-year-old male resident living alone in the room believed to be the origin is not reachable.

さいたま市で木造アパートが燃える火事があり、男性1人の遺体が見つかりました。 　24日午後5時すぎ、さいたま市南区四谷の木造2階建てアパートで、「101号室から出火した」と別の部屋の住人から119番通報がありました。 　警察と消防によりますと、ポンプ車など13台が出動し、火はおよそ3時間半後に消し止められましたが、焼け跡から男性1人の遺体が見つかりました。 　火元とみられる部屋に1人で住む70歳の男性と連絡が取れておらず、警察が身元の確認を進めています。 　現場はJR武蔵浦和駅から南西に1キロほどの住宅などが密集する地域です。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
