Description from TEDx Talks

From stepping behind a microphone at the age of five to becoming a familiar voice in Iranian radio and television, Zhaleh Sadeghian spent decades building a career in broadcasting, poetry, and culture. But moving to Canada brought an entirely new chapter, one that required her to navigate unfamiliar surroundings and redefine her sense of identity and purpose. Through her personal journey, Zhaleh reflects on the courage it takes to leave behind a familiar world, embrace uncertainty, and begin again. Her story explores how our experiences shape who we are, and how starting over can become an opportunity to rediscover ourselves. A veteran radio and television presenter, she began her broadcasting career at age five on Iran’s national radio as a child actor and announcer. After earning her degree in Communications and Journalism from Allameh Tabataba’i University in 1988, she returned to broadcasting and went on to host numerous live radio and television programs focused on poetry, literature, music, and culture. Her career includes narrating major musical and poetic productions, collaborating with renowned musicians and orchestras, and hosting hundreds of stage programs, festivals, seminars, and cultural events across Iran. She has received several awards for broadcasting and presenting. Since immigrating to Canada, she has created and hosted the podcast *She’r o Shekar* on Apple Podcasts. She currently lives in Toronto. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
