Strong early-morning earthquake in Tokai region, up to upper 5 intensity, 22 injured

An earthquake with a maximum intensity of upper 5 on the Japanese scale struck the Tokai region in the early hours of November 8, injuring 22 people across several areas. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the quake occurred at about 1:04 a.m. with its epicenter in western Shizuoka Prefecture, and upper 5 intensity was recorded in Chita, Aichi. In Aichi, 19 injuries were confirmed, including one serious case. The report also notes that the sleeper train Sunrise Izumo stopped briefly, with no reported illness or injuries among its roughly 290 passengers.
