Central Tokyo reaches 30°C, latest midsummer day on record

Unseasonably hot weather spread across Japan on the 21st, with many points in eastern and western Japan exceeding 30°C. Around 1 p.m., central Tokyo also passed 30°C, marking a hot day. Since statistics began in 1875, this is the latest such day recorded in the city. Cold air from the north is expected to bring cooler weather from the 22nd, with a high of only 19°C forecast for the 24th.

21日の日本列島は季節外れの真夏日が続出しています。午後1時ごろには東京都心でも30℃に達し、統計史上最も遅い真夏日の記録を更新しました。 　21日は南から暖かい空気が流れ込み、東日本や西日本では30℃を超える地点が相次ぐなど異例の暑さとなっています。 　午後1時ごろには東京都心でも30℃を超えて真夏日となりました。 　東京都心では1875年に統計を開始して以来、10月下旬以降に真夏日を観測したことはなく、統計史上最も遅い真夏日記録となります。 　ただ、22日以降は北から寒気が流れ込むため、この暑さは長続きせず、24日は最高気温でも19℃と寒暖差が大きくなる見通しです。 　服装を間違えて体調を崩さないよう注意が必要です。
