Central Tokyo reaches 30°C, the latest midsummer day on record (October 21, 2026)
On October 21, warm air from the south pushed temperatures above 30°C at several points in eastern and western Japan. In central Tokyo, the temperature passed 30°C around 1 p.m., making it a midsummer day out of season. Since statistics began in 1875, no midsummer day has been observed in Tokyo after late October, so this is the latest on record. Cold air from the north is expected from October 22, and the high on October 24 is forecast to reach only 19°C.
