Tokyo police hold cybersecurity seminar for companies amid repeated attacks
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Cybersecurity Countermeasures Headquarters held a seminar on the 28th for 14 companies in the retail and restaurant chain sectors. The session came as cyberattacks on businesses continue to occur, and it covered how information leaks happen and how to prevent them. Speakers pointed to the exploitation of vulnerabilities left unpatched after updates and the misuse of stolen IDs and passwords as causes. Guidance also included steps to limit the impact of a suspected leak, such as initial response within five days and investigation and reporting within 60 days.
