Description from TEDx Talks

Rivers do not stop at borders, so who decides how their water is shared? Mahnaz Lashkri turns to transnational water governance, one of the world’s most contested resources, and shows how the way we talk shapes what we share. A resource that crosses borders needs conversations that cross them too. This talk was part of the first edition of TEDxEuropean University Institute Florence, held at Palazzo Buontalenti, home to the Florence School of Transnational Governance of the European University Institute (EUI), in the former courtroom of the Court of Appeal of Florence (Italy). Theme: “Agents of Change”. Mahnaz Lashkri is Strategic Projects and Partnerships Manager at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH). She is a co-founding member of UKH’s Center for Peacebuilding and Dialogue. She holds a BA with honours in Politics and International Relations and an MA in International Studies, both from UKH. She has worked in government and the humanitarian sector on policy, community-led advocacy, project management, and media and communications. She is an alumna of the Global Shapers Community and the US State Department. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
