Typhoon No. 30 moves north; widespread rain and unseasonable heat in Japan (October 19, 2026)
Typhoon No. 30 is moving north and is expected to intensify rapidly in the coming days. On October 19, low pressure and the autumn rain front brought rain to much of Japan, while strong south winds blew along the Sea of Japan coast. Western and eastern Japan recorded summer and midsummer days, with Kanoya in Kagoshima reaching 30°C in the morning, a late-season record. The report also advises caution about food storage, heatstroke and high waves around Okinawa.
